Lone wolf stand and sticks

Are they all that and a bag of chips?
Money is tight, but I hate buying things twice.

What do you users think? Was it worth the expense?

I use there stand with 3 sticks and 2 screw in steps.  Four sticks are just too much to carry and with the screw in steps I get up to 18 to 20 feet depending how far I spread them out.  I don't mind screwing in 2 steps but 10 is too much.  I put the 3 sticks up then the 2 screw in's at the top.

I'd also like to know what people think of the climbing sticks.

I used to hunt out of a loc on limit and had a sack of strap on steps - nylon straps with chunky black composite steps. These were the greatest thing ever IMO, but I guess they must have been deemed unsafe because no one sells them now. I used to carry 4-5 steps and could go anywhere I wanted with them - very light and quiet also.

I like to carry my stand and steps in and out and be mobile. Are the sticks versatile enough for this?

I do the same as TSunstone, except one tree step as my handhold as I am pulling my big butt up into the treestand. I like the freedom of any tree, anywhere. I usually get no more than 16 feet off the ground and hunt a ton of fencerows that I would not be able to set-up on without the Lone Wolf. I own 2 stands so that if I have a hotspot I can leave one and come back to it later.

Love mine.  There are more comfortable ones for sure, but most are like dragging a lazy boy recliner out with you.  I've done plenty of all dayers in mine.  Love the light weight, slim profile when folded and ability to set up wherever things look good.

I don't care much for their stands, but the climbing sticks are great.

best hang on type stand is a chippewa - same for sticks chippewa is best. Lone Wolf makes the best climber.

If you are using it as the mobile "packable system" it is designed for...... I'd say yes, there's a bag of chips there to.

If you just need ladders to access prehung stands, I'd say go with aluminum Rapid Rails.  Rails are slight bit more user friendy IMO.


I use my LW package religiously for in and out public land hunts and anytime I want to blind side one.  It's a pretty handy system.

I have both the Assault and the Elite hang-ons. They are really good and the Assault is low profile...took an 8pt out of mine last year.

I combo mine with the Muddy sticks.

I have three sets, all assaults.  Best thing since sliced bread, IMO.  I only go to about 12-14 feet, and three sticks are adequate for that.  Shot angle gets mighty acute beyond that.

Very often, on public land I hunt, where it's legal, and it's not everywhere, I'll leave the stand (chained and locked) and uppermost stick in the tree and pack in only two sticks, which are very easy and quick to position from the ground. It's a deterrent to theft.  Of course, if somebody really wants the stand and/or stick, they'll be able to get it, but it hasn't happened yet.  Then again, most of my stands are a mile or more from roads, and most slobs don't want to work that hard to steal them.

I have been using sticks exclusivly for 10 years.4-5 different brands.I have had good luck with all of them.Including cheaper ones like Gorilla.

I too usually use 3 sticks.If you spread them out and are somewhat agile you can get up 17-18 ft.

15 ft should not be a problem for most poeple.

I currantly got the short Lone wolf strap ons for packing deep.I use 4 of those.Probaly about 24 inches long?Thier light and compact and bungie up well to a treestand.They dont stick out the bottom and bang into your butt and dont stick up above.Which can be a problem when trying to get through thick cover or overhanging limbs.Combined with a large fanny pack I am ready to go and very mobile

I have another set thats about 29 inches long for each section.Those pack well bungied to a stsnd.I use the longer ones available as well.Like Gorrillas sticks,36 inches.But thier more cumbersone.They work well though.Not as nice when bungied to a stand.Not bad though for carrying in the hand.

I am completely portable with the one stand and sticks set up.  I wear a turkey vest with everything I need. One time up the tree and I am in.  Takes 8 minutes tops.  Would never want to hunt any other way. I also like that I never leave scent- virtually every mature deer I have harvested or encountered was first time set-up.

I do occasionally use a 4th stick or two screw-ins at the bottom.  But 3 is plenty for 15-16 ft. stand ht.
