The difference does not matter, the advantage goes to whatever bow you shoot the best.

It is as mentioned above.
If there is a difference it might be that an average recurve gives more fps than a similar longbow at the same #.
But that don`t count when it comes to how you shoot the bows an how they fit your shooting style.
Try both and do some testing. You will soon notice which one that will serve you best  :thumbsup:

Chicks dig guys with longbows!    :laughing:

  It is what you feel more comfortable with looks mean nothing if you cant hit the mark.I think each hunter brings out the advantages of each bow with the way it fits them.

I like both and both have there advantages , it does seem that when someone is new to traditional comming from the compound that a recurve works better for them due to the grip and mass weight . BTW love your web site !

D and R with medium grip fits the bill both ways and has the best attributes of both,. Speed,. quietness. Light weight. Fast and easy to handle. I believe them to be the ultimate hunting bow. that is if we leave out predjudice.

Both get the job done if the one facing the face has developed a game and has "his" game on.

Personally, I like the curves.

I don't intend this to be hateful, But the difference does matter; when you do not know what the difference is.

Folks shoot best what they want to shoot best. Longbows only for the past 32 years. Recurves prior.

Only you can make that decision, 'cause it's whats best for you. I shoot one way, you, him, and/or they won't shoot that way. So the difference only really comes down what you want to shoot. Go to a place with both styles and shoot the hell outa all they have. One you are shooting will tell you which shoots better TO YOU.

Good advice already given but my favorite is the longbow; the longbow having more length is more forgiving than a shorter recurve; that does not mean that a recurve is not accurate because they are,it just means that a longbow will "cover" a bad release more quickly and easier than a curve;

I also believe that a longbow is a little more quite because the string does not touch the limbs; also, IMO, you have less "limb twist" with a longbow for the above reason as well;

In any case though, one should shoot what they are most comfortable with and makes no difference which one you choose, they both will get the job done just practice as much as possible; and KNOW YOUR LIMITS AND STAY THERE...  :campfire:

I think if you havent shot either very much or if you dont prefer one more than the other i would say a recurve cause there generaly shorter wich would make for an eaiser shooting postion in your stand i could see it being a little difficult to manuver a long bow around in your stand if i was you i would take some arrows and both your bows up in a tree and try both out of course im thinking of hunting out of a stand
