WHAT A WOMAN !
My wife is always unhappy to not have any venison in the freezer for the winter. (Yeah, it happens). Like yours' she supports me fully.
Now, THAT's a Happy Birthday.

Your Chicken from McDonald's, Tyson Foods, or Perdue Farms spent most of it's life stuffed in a cage with three or four others, occupying a space about the size of a book page...None for me, thanks...

Good for your wife.Mine's got it down pat!She subtly explains what us hunters do for ALL Wildlife, like Ducks Unlimited,The Rocky Mountain Elk foundation etc.etc.Then she asks the person when was the last time they contributed to Wildlife? Usually the conversation ends with a dumb look.
Quote from Howard Hill.( Whenever he taught someone to shoot) "Son make up your mind right now if you want to target shoot or hunt as theres a world of differance between the two"

I spent some time in Chicago Illinois going to college.  Being from a rural town of 1,300....hunting was just as natural as breathing.  When I went to school....my friends that were girls would ask what I was doing for the weekend.  I would tell them I was going deer hunting.  I got every comment, bad look, etc..you could get.  Mostly from girls wearing leather shoes and eating meat during lunch.  I simply quit arguing with them.  I have realized that you are not going to change a persons mind about hunting.  No more than an anti-hunter is going to convince me to quit hunting.  The ones to pay attention to, are the ones that are "on the fence" about the issue.  On a side note...I tried to explain to an African tracker...the term "vegetarian" and he laughed so hard I thought he would quit breathing.  Good stuff!

Wish you would post the bakery's name and address so we could all let them know we are hunters and we will not accept any negative comments. Frank

if you could pm the name of the bakery and the town Ill call them as well and let them know they lost my business as well.  Despite the fact that I have never been there before.  All the added support would be beneficial.

Much appreciation and respect to your fine wife, Well Done!  We all have a dog in this fight and if we dont make our voices heard then it will be assumed that we dont have an opinion one way or the other.
Hunt fair, hunt hard, no regrets.

ray please let your wife know we all truly appreciate her being bold and tactful in her response to the clerk. the woman should have kept her comments to herself. next time she probaly will. they don,t have much contact with the general public washing dishes at Micky D's.

Mrs. Lyon here!  Needless to say, Potter's Bakery located on 8th Street in Traverse City, MI has lost our business.  In fact, when I called to talk to the owner, Kathy Potter, I was placed on hold.  After a moment, the young girl came  back on the line and said, "Kathy wants to know what it's about."  Hmmmm....Really?  It went from bad to worse.  Eventually, Kathy and I did connect that same day.  I explained the situation and I wish I could say that she was interested in the least.  She said she was sorry that they had been really busy.  Wow, well, they will be less busy now because we won't be going there.  In addition, I won't be buying my bi-weekly, monthly, client goodies there either.  Not only did she lose a family, but she lost our professional business as well.  What a shame.  All because a sale person decidided to make the process of buying a birthday cake a political platform for her personal views on hunting.  Shame on them!  By the way, I can't imagine my husband being any sexier than when he's pulling back that long bow!  Potter's Bakery, 1-231-947-5125

Wow, in this economy? Ignoring bad press and unhappy customers. Small wonder where the clerk gets her attitude, from her boss. Bad for her business, and bad for her professional reputation. As stale as week old donuts.

Good for you folks!   :clapper:
