First what kind of sinew should be use for backing a osage selfbow:
Back Sinew
Leg Sinew

How much Hide glue should be used and how much Sinew.
Thanks!

“instinctive archery” is more like playing the violin. Without practice you may remember the mechanics, but you will not be a virtuoso.

Either

I use Knox gelatin (get it at your grocery store), one or two packets is enough but keep extra handy in case ou run out.

Depends on how thick.  8 whitetail leg tendons will give you 2 layers which is a minimum to get it to really work.

I like the leg tendons on Elk, one because the are readilly available to me and two the are long enough to cover a bow quiclky and short enough to really pull some reflex into a bow..... Here's how I harvest and prepare my sinew...   "Sinew Harvest and Prep"
And here's how I apply sinew to the bow...   "Sinew Backing a Bow"  And here's a pic and some tips for applying a snakeskin (or Rawhide) Over your sinew Backing   "Snakeskin over Sinew"

Good Luck and share some pics of your project..... Terry
