Yes I bow hunted there about 10 years ago, there is a lot of deer there. I did not see any real big bucks, but I am not a horn hunter anyway. I have also hunted a bunch around where you are from, I have leased many farms in Jackson and Smith county. I am now leaseing one in Macon county.

Jasper is a good area. Not as much agriculture as in LA (lower Alabama that is   :D ) but overpopulation is not much of an issue like some parts of the Blackbelt. Dog hunting has been a contentious issue in Walker county through the years but seems to have settled down lately.

North AL has really come on in recent years with a lot of fine bucks coming from the TN river area.

Never hunted Jasper, but have property almost due East just on the other side of I65 I hunt.
Have taken 2 to 5 deer every time I go there. Usually stay 3 to 5 days at a time.
From what I've been told by locals Jasper area has good deer hunting also.
But in my opinion, I don't think a bad area exists in Alabama. I think Alabama has one of, if not the largest deer herd of any State. I don't know what is is but they just seem to be everywhere. They may not be the biggest, but it sure seems like they have the most.

Love hunting Alabama!   :archer:

I have a good frien that lives in Jasper and hunts right outside of town and he has killed some whoppers over the last 10 years.

He hunts a family owned farm thats over 500 acrs and they let the small ones walk.

K-Mac you ae thinking of Wolf Creek. There is some fine hunting on there. It is somewhat rugged land, but worth the effort. I have hunted there with my smokepole and thinned the does, but only seen the big bucks as they ran off.

There is also the Black Warrior WMA just a little north of Jasper in Winston county in the Bankhead national forest.
There are some very large bucks as well as hogs there.

There are plenty of deer in/around Jasper.   My house is right outside of town and the few times I walked behind my shop last year I saw deer,  coyote's too.

If your in Jasper go to Pats Outdoors,  they just sell compounds and guns, but they are good people and have always been real helpfull with any questions ive had on good spots etc...
