Stalker Bows???
« on: August 24, 2010, 03:53:00 AM »
Got a Stalker Recurve on the way to test drive. Any of you got any info about these bows. Bowyer South Cox seems like a really nice guy from what little I got to talk to him on the phone... Anyone shot these bows before or got some pics???

Awwww yea. Here ya go!

I tell ya, I love mine. I just got it 2 weeks ago after a very SHORT wait. By the time South took my order until it was in my hands it was 5 weeks. I am sure as his business picks up he will get a bit longer in wait times. The draw is smooth and it zings an arrow. I am not a chronograph guy but it pushes a 600gr arrow down range faster than anything I have owned. Specs are 57 at 29 inches, 62 in length, grey actionwood with bubinga fades and tips with a rosewood strip in the riser. It is going mule deer hunting in 7 days. Can't wait. Here is another thread you need to look at here:   http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=092301;p=1

Good luck. Think you will like how South's bows shoot and look. The man has alot of talent.

That looks great Wapiti! The limbs look to be narrow in the picture.

My Stalker is my #1 hunting partner!  My #2 hunting partner will be my back up Stalker which is being built.

string cutter, for me, what really sets this bow apart from all others I have shot (which is a bunch) is the grip. Hands down the best, most repeatable grip I have ever shot. I love the grip on my Zippers, but this one edges them out. Smooth performers, super nice bowyer to work with, and the bows are easy on the eyes too. Have fun.

Brace around 7 1/2...I think most guys are near that anyway. Hope you enjoy the bow! Now if I could take mine and kill some critters like Ryan I'd be tickled  :)  BTW Ryan I think we need a Stalker reunion in your neck of the woods   :bigsmyl:

As Mike mentioned, 7 1/2" is a perfect place to start.  I'm at 7 3/8" brace and 5/8" nock height (3 under)

I just set up my friends new Stalker tonight with a new string.  7 1/2" brace and 1/2" nock height.  He's going to shoot his first shot tomorrow.

Sounds good Mike!  Maybe we can convice South to join us!  :campfire:

We do have public access.  It varies island to island.  I think out of state license runs about $100.

String Cutter,

I shot one this year up at Comptons. I knew on the first round of arrows that I was going to own one of South's bows. I chatted with South quite a bit up at Comptons and promptly came home, sold a bow and ordered my "Striker" model from South.

He was indeed a real pleasure to do business with and kept me in the loop throught the building process (which was a little over a month from when I ordered). I received it, and am extremely happy with both the bows looks and performance.

I'm going to attach a link to a thread that I started for three of us "trad-gangers" that ordered bows as a result of shooting them and talking to South up at Compton. In my opinion, I don't think it would be possible to go wrong when dealing with South. His "wait" list is sure to increase as people get exposed to his bows.

I hope this helps.......   :campfire:
