Want to put 3 five inch bannana feathers on carbon arrows. Am thinking these would work without helical . Would these feathers be good fletched straight? This would cut down on noise and air resistance. Thanks , Roy

Flinthead,
By straight, I assume you mean straight with an offset. The little amount of offset will impart spin to the arrow for broadhead stability if your bare shafts are tuned and you will not notice much speed difference.
Sal is correct they will work fine. I shoot a 4" four fletch with straight offset and you can see the "ball of color" as they go down range.

How do you know how much offset to give the fletches?

The maximum offset can only be set up to where your fletch lays in full contact along the full length of the feather quill. This angle will vary dependent upon your fletch length and shaft diameter. Pay attention to offset in the correct direction whether left or right wing feathers are used. Looking down from the nock end, the front of the fletch should be on the left of the shaft and the back of the fletch should be on the right. Vice versa for right wing. You can use less than maximum offset but why? The angle is so slight that speed will not be an issue but arrow stability with a broad head is what you want.
