Anyone know if a Browning Safari 1 is safe to use with a Fast Flight string???   Thanks!

I wouldn't. My Dad has one he bought new as a youngster(he's 69 now). It still shoots great. It has a coupla thin 'glass tip overlays, so no doubt yours does too. Should be pretty quiet with b-50, a pair of rubber whiskers, play with brace height, and not-too-tight arrow nocks. There's zero hand-shock, but I noticed this bow is noisy until the brace height gets up to 7 1/2" to 7 3/4".  My .02
The older I get, the better I was.

Dacron only--B-500 or B-50.

Lyleberry, not tryin' to steal your thread, but I just got a Safari I, and wonder what string length I need. She is marked 54", 54# (does not say AMO). She has a 51" B-50 endless loop string on her, but I would really have to overtwist the string to get her to 7-1/2" brace ht. I want to get a B-50 Flemish twist string for her, but I want to be sure that I order the right length. Any advice greatly appreciated.
I would Not try any of the low/no stretch strings on the bow.

Browninng Bows use Dacron strings only. For ordering Dacron, if your bow is marked 54", then you order a Dacron AMO 54". The string inside will be shorter and correct length.

Joe,
Is an AMO 54" Dacron string 51" or 50" in actual length? I've never really quite figured it out. I have a Wing Thunderbird marked 54" AMO, and a 51" endless loop Dacron string with several twists in it braces her at 7-1/2", but the same string on my Safari I yields a 7-1/8" brace height. I'm confused, and just want to order the correct length string for the Safari. And I want a Flemish twist string.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll stick with Dacron.  Going to Gander Mountain tomorrow, I've been told that you should go 4" under AMO (which my safari is marked), but this is the first time I've ever had to do this so I'll see what fits and let you know...

If you buy a string made according to AMO specs, it is supposed to be 3" shorter, but if I remember correctly the old Brownings I've owned needed a string 4" shorter.
