Stalker Surge
« on: August 28, 2010, 05:00:00 AM »
Well, got the Stalker Surge on a try out and I am very impressed. The attention to detail was great . Looked the thing over and can't believe how well made it was....
The grip was totally awsome. It fit my hand like a glove..... I would have to say that Mr. South Cox really really knows how to make a bow.
I felt very little hand shock. And it totally smokes an arrow even at my 27 inch draw.
The riser had pretty good weight and balanced in my hand .
He blended in the limbs to the riser so well you could hardly see  where they fit together...
The only thing that I didn't care for was the limb tip overlays. They seemed a little blocky to me ... and I wish he would have rounded the edges and feathered them into the limbs. But I am sure that if I asked he could easily fix that for me....
Kinda breaks my heart I got to send it back to him tomorrow.

See I liked the limb tips. To me it gave it character on mine because the bubunga tips contrasted the grey actionwood. I am sure South would work with you if it was something you wanted. He is a great guy to work with, builds an awesome bow, and thinks bowhunting as much as any guy I know. My Stealth will be in WY elk country in 4 days. I will give a full blow-by-blow when I return. Glad you liked the bow String Cutter!

I have the Surge model and love it! South has been a great guy to work with. I like the limb tips. I guess he makes them that size for a reason, he even let me know that if I wanted a custom string made I should make sure the upper loop was larger than normal. He just sent me pics of his mule deer and a color phase bear he shot recently. I hope to have some pics to share this year also.

Think I might have to rethink buying the one I sent back to him???? I really really liked it. Was gray and brown action wood . but man was it pretty....I am almost afraid to call him again. That Striker Model in Bacote and ebony is looking really good. Wouldn't take much to push me over the edge...
