Hey Guys
I just tried using the barge cement method for backing a recurve with dried snakeskins and it didn't work. Period. I followed the directions on the 3rivers site. I couldn't get the glue on thin and even enough, and it turned out very lumpy, and I couldn't work it smooth. I took the skin off before the whole thing set up, and was able to salvage it. I peeled the glue off of the limb the next day, and it came off pretty easily, so I wonder how good a hold it would have actually had? I roughed it up a bit with 150 grit first.
Should I try the Titebond, moist skin method? It seems to me that this method was really developed for selfbow applications. Does anyone have any other methods, and some pictures of their results? I'm not sure what to do next.
Thanks!
Ben
