removing gasket lacquer

Was wondering if there is anything or a easy way to remove gasket lacquer finish from a bow without sanding it all off?...

I would try some lacquer thinner and see if it will remove it.If it doesn't maybe some acetone, but I would try the lacquer thinner first.

It's my buddies arrows and he was the one who put it on hit a tree and messed up the finsih and he was wanting to redo it. He's not a member so I told him I would ask if anyone knew how to get it off..
