By request- My homemade equipment
« on: September 11, 2010, 11:52:00 AM »
Here are a few pictures of my homemade equipment and how it's made.

What your looking at is my version of a shield blind that sits in front of me, My "On-the-bow blind" and my stool that stands by itself and will swivel 360' without any sound.

The stool upside down

Ready to roll

Everything in here was made by me except the bow and carry strap( it was adapted off of something else.

How to:

All you do is get some wire(I used rabbit cage wire)

Cut it to the dimensions you want your blind to be. I used 20"X30" for my 1st one and went wider and not as tall for the next one but I've not even measured it yet.

Then cut two think squares of aluminum(1/8 or so thick) drill a 5/16" hole through the center of each of these.

Use the squares to sandwich the wire panel where ever you want to attach your bow. If your bow has an insert for a fishing set-up or stabilizer just bolt it in. If your bow doesn't have one you either have to drill and glue in an insert or get a gadget attachment device(I did, got mine from 3 Rivers but a lot of places like the Nocking Point carry them)

Once you have it attached you can cut out your sight window and any other wire you don't want to carry around.

I use the die cut camo cloth from Walmart to attach over the frame then I used an old plastic fake plant to put on the extra leaves.

It's just that simple.

Here's another blind that I make to sit behind along with my "on-the-bow" blind and my ghuillie.

Take some welded wire(I used concrete wire) Cut it off at the height you want the top to be after the bottom wire is stuck in the ground.

I cut out the wires going horizontal along the bottom so it leaves wire prongs going down to stick into the ground.

Then I cut the wire into 17" wide panels and zip tie them together so they can fold up accordion style. I attach my camo cloth with zip ties.

I fold it up put a strap around it and I'm off.

Set it up out in front and around to the sides of me. Between this, my "on-the-bow" blind and my ghuillie, I'm about as deadly as a rattle snake in a mouse house.

I only wish I had though of this before this past spring turkey season.

God bless,Mudd

PS:I have been thinking about building my version of the "Ghost blind". I know I could do it and it wouldn't cost any $200 dollars that they want for theirs.

How did you make the stool?  How much does it weigh?

Thanks,
Ken

I wish I could draw a picture on here. That would be easier than trying to explain it..lol

It weighs 6 lbs.

I'll give this a try.

I cut a piece of pipe that would accept the piece of conduit I had. Then I cut 4 pieces od square tubing and welded then onto the short piece of pipe. That makes the base for the seat. I cut out a circle of plywood and bolted it to the base. I sued foam cushion material as my filler and covered it with nomex mylar paper and burlap.

I used a round bracket to slide over my conduit and welded it into place so the conduit could only go into the ground as far as the bracket.

I hammered the end of the conduit flat so it would go into the ground easy and not pack full of dirt. I turned the top of the conduit a little so it was smooth and smaller in diameter. The seat fits over it and the top and bottom of the stool are attached to one another by a strap. I also use a strap to carry it.

I hope that's as clear as "Mudd"..lol

God bless,Mudd

I use a version of the blind & am really happy with it. The stool is great. You can't hear it at all.
God Bless
