Water proofing feathers?

OK, folks, what do you do to feathers on your arrows if you know you'll be hunting in rain?  Treat them some way or use the old baggy?  Yeah, I know about the quivers that cover them and have a couple but don't care too much for them.  Looking for what others may be doing otherwise.....Dave

Lot of guys are using the stuff made for Flies, I think its called Watershed. Get it fly fishing shops. Speaking of that....

I keep my arrows in my safari tough quiver ... it covers the fletches.  Also I use DRI-TITE by Bohning Co.  It is a liquid that I brush on and it dries very quickly with no odor and no negative effects on the flexibility of the arrow.  Very water proof after it is dry.

Use goose feathers,  mother nature keeps em dry.

I used Food Grade Silicone this year in Alaska! Did a pretty good job, and we experienced lots of water. Either rain or the brush (which is always wet).
I was surprised when I got home and the feathers dried, I thought I would need to replace them by they are good to go!

I remember using the powder.  You would take a shot and get a face full of powder.  Glad there are other options now:)

I have had good success keeping the fletching dry with silicone spray.  A little goes a long way.

I always have a couple of goose feathered shafts in my quiver. Everything else I spray with the silicone that is used on tent seams. It works so good that the last 3 animals I got pass thrus on the the blood on the feathers was almost non existent. It works great for me but the ultimate is the goose feathers and a lumenok.

When I talked to Eldon on Friday he said you had not taken a bear. How was the bear hunt for you?

Not good, Bill.  The weather change really changed the activity from the week you and Laura were there. I didn't see anything at all all week.  Earl really did a number of activity.

Ive been using the powder for many years and like the way it works. I have tried several of the different sprays with different results and keep going back to the powder. You will have to see what works best for you.

I use a product called Rain and Stain from Payless shoes. Comes in a spray can and works great. (nut)
