I was on my way...

to practice this afternoon and decided to try a 50 yard shot on my 3d target.  needless to say, it was my best shot of the afternoon.

I can't even see 50 yards. Lol! That's a fine shot. Gotta be a great feeling to watch that arrow arc right into the vitals like that.  What bow is that? Looks sweet, and obviously a shooter.   :archer2:

to be honest, i lost the arrow when it was about 2/3 of the way there.  i knew i hit the target when i saw the deer start to rock a little.  the bow is a james parker turk.  it's 52" long and draws 45#@28".  it shoots full length 35/55 goldtips flat out to 25 yards with a 150gr. point.  i'm very pleased with the way it shoots!

Nice shot - I kinda like trying those once in a while myself - nothing is more cool that a perfect flying arrow dropping in right where you want it!

Nice shot Chris. Good long shots make for better short shots! d;^)
How was the farm this weekend? I was across the river in GA and it was hot, humid, only a few acorns(water oak), grapes were almost gone and persimmons spotty. Only a few deer sightings and no shots. We did run across some good buck sign, even this early.

Don't you just love the magic that happens on a long shot when the arrow just mysteriously drops into the intended spot?

Congratulations!!! Absolutely awesome!!

pat, everything is looking great at the farm.  wade and i scouted around this weekend.  most of my pines are 7-8' tall giving some good bedding areas.  my persimmons are just starting to drop, my big muscidine vine has a "race track" beaten around it where the deer have been feeding, and we rediscovered a crab apple i planted about eight years ago loaded with apples.  all the grass was gone from beneath it and it was pruned as high as the deer could reach.  looking to be an excellent year to hunt the farm.  wade was so excited that he's thinking about coming down this weekend and hunting with me.

I have been forcing myself to shoot longer distances in practice this year.  I shoot a routine where i go 20-30-40-45-50-30-20-15-10 and then a few from random distances before finishing with a kill from 18.  Between sticking with one bow (62 inch, 54# @ 28 Blacktail)and this routine, my 25 yard and in shooting has improved dramatically.
