Bad Shoulder in Arkansas!!!
« on: September 17, 2010, 07:24:00 PM »
Hey Guys! I started shooting a little over a year ago and for about the first 6 months was pretty happy with my progress. At that time I was shooting about 40 to 50 arrows a day with my 50lb at 28" Bear Patriot.    :help:   Does anyone have a 40lb bow that they are willing to let go of at a reasonable price? I guess I'm looking for grizzly or something similar that I can use until I get things going again...

What kind of excercises do I need to be doing to get this thing to recover? Last time I stopped shooting for about 3 weeks and my shoulder got to where it didn't ache but when I started shooting again it came back immediately!

Get seen by your doctor and evaluated by a physical therapist for exercises to do.  Everyone here has stayed at a Holiday Inn Express before (myself included) and will have plenty of advice, but get professionally evaluated. Good luck with your bow search!   :)

Jay, I've got a 25 inch Kap Winstorm riser that I can set up with a set of short ilf limbs.  Bow will come out about 40 lb or so and be 66 inches long.
Or I've got a Black Bear that has been warfed by Bob Gordon and weighted in the bottom pocket.  I can set it up pretty close to the same poundage but on a 62 or 64 inch length.

Both limbs sets I've got spare are from 3 Rivers.

I can probably do between 275  and 300 depending on which one you might want.   You can shoot the bear off the shelf, you CANNOT do that with the other riser.

And trust me, with the type limbs I've got, it will make your Bear Patriot seem like a slow pony

Man those are nice! We're still working on student loans so at the moment...

I'd like to find something in the $150 range but might be able to sneak $200 out if I'm lucky!

JDL,
Let me check when I get home tomorrow (I work 3rd shift) I may have a 42@28 and a 45@28"...I could part with either for $150...I can't remember which bows are which..I have a Browning...and an RER Falcon...Both I have bought from other TG members Both I'd be willing to part with (as much as I hate to say that... they are both great bows). If you think you might be interested let me know or send me a PM. Hope I can help you out if you are interested.

I sent you a PM as well.

JDL, if I had a cheaper set of limbs we could drop the price a bunch, however right now the only sets of limbs I have are on the high end of things.

I feel your pain.  Ditto on Rastaman's advice,  get it checked out.  I tried rest and Physical therapy through the summer, then in Aug. the doc ordered an MRI theat revealed a slap lesion tear.  Now I'll be recovering from surgery during our early archery season, and working my butt off to be shooting again when our season opens again after Christmas.  Sure wish I had June and July to do over again.  Good luck.

JDL -
I more than understand what you're going through and what needs to be done to get you back into shooting shape.  With out going into much detail I'll just say that because of a couple of traumatic injuries back in the '80's I've had to have 4 left and just had my 6th right shoulder surgery.  You're not too far from me so if need be I can set you up with the best professionals in the business.  Alternately, we can get you set up properly locally.  PM me if you'd like and I'll fill you in on what needs to be done.

Wow, this is a lot to take in!

Sou-pawbowhunter,

I'm not sure what a slap lesion tear is but it sounds awful! I'll be praying that you have a quick recovery!

Nick559,

Thank you so much, It might be tomorrow before I can contact you but I definitely will ASAP!

Aside from what has gone on the main post:

Americanhunter7 has a couple possible bows that he is checking the poundage of for me.

Ceme24 has given me some FANTASTIC advice.

Special thanks to tyler2045 for offering to lend a bow to a new guy! That was insanely kind!

mambashooter,

I'm not sure that I could sleep in that thing but the exercise part seems like it could be great! Did you have trouble sleeping in it?
