New Bow and New Arrows
« on: September 19, 2010, 03:21:00 PM »
I have been shooting my new Great Northern Ghost for the past week and love it.  My first traditional bow since back in 1992.  The bow is 60 inches and 51 lbs at 28 inches.  I only draw it 26.5.  I ordered some 33/55 Gold Tip Traditionals from Big Jim.  They are 29 inches with 50 grain inserts and 175 grain tips, an arrow wrap and 5 inch feathers.  I believe my total arrow weight is 501 grains (correct me if I am wrong).  Anyway the bow shoots great, shooter does not.  My brace height is set at 7 1/2 inches and my nock height is 3/8.  As I get more comfortable with my release and anchor, my shooting seems to improve.

My index finger on my bow hand is sliced from the fletching I believe.  I started raising my wrist and corrected the problem.

I tried to post pictures but no luck.  I will try to figure it out.  Anyway, having a blast.  My son who is a jr in high school is wanting to start shooting traditional now.  Maybe next season we can put away are compounds for good.

You need to download the pics onto Photobucket. Them copy the IMG and paste into your post where you want it. There are instructions somewhere on this site, but I forgot where.
Sounds like a nice bow by the way.

The arrow setup you have is almost identical to mine, with the exception my arrows are cut to 29.5". My arrows weigh 535-540 grains.
