And yet another reason to not repeal "Don't ask Don't tell"   :nono:

Honestly I like missing far better than wounding.
TGMM-Family of the Bow

The quest to improve is so focused on a few design aspects & compensating for hunter ineptness as to actually have reduced a bow & arrow’s effectiveness. Nothing better demonstrates this than mech. BHs & speed fixated designs

Maybe, but then again I hear about wheelie guys and gun guys missing all the time and wounding deer all the time.

And it says the same for them as it does for us.
Anyone who misses regularly wounds regularly as well. Lot's of room between missing and killing. It is not good for public posting - or even worse, laughing about multiple missing. And before anyone accuses me, I am far from perfect - but those details will only be shared privately.

Steve, I am not disagreeing with you, In fact I agree That it may shed negative light for people who choose to read into things.  We  know there isn't any shortage of them people in NY, that's probably why hunting is declining here.

Perhaps those people need to be brought over to my buddies farm. There is a doe who had 3 fawns this year.  All 3 are dead and she has wounds all over her.  He's a Biologist and said coyotes killed the fawns and wounded the doe. I'll take his word for it.

I dont know exactly where I'm going with this except, wounding deer is natural, It happens and it isn't only inflicted by humans. People who assume missing means wounding and look poorly upon hunting are already anti-hunters.  Yeah I know theres no reason to get them riled up but then again there's no reason to talk to them anyhow since I am not skilled in the area of rhetoric enough to change their opinions. But I also think that when talking about what we love, we shouldn't have to walk on egg shells, we just need to be respectful and tasteful.

You are right Steve when you say there is nothing funny about wounding deer.  It kills me to hear of people giving up as soon as they lose blood.  It also irritates me to no end when I hear guys talking about deer hunting in public places when they say things like "I blasted it" or "I shot that M.F.er in the ass"  words like blitzed or wasted, waxed and rittled or emptied my clip and shot its legs off.

these kinds of conversations are what brings a bad taste to peoples mouths, they certainly do mine.
Relax,

You'll live longer!

well seems like most of you guys are talking about big game . . . I'm in, lol . . . but then someone talked about missing squirrels . . oih. I have only missed one deer, a dandy 8 point, their was a sapling covering his front shoulder, I was so worried about hitting that dang thing that I nailed the tree  :biglaugh:  I have missed WAY to many shots on small game to recount, lol

I might be jinxing myself for Friday morning (I know where a decent buck crosses a saddle every morning at about 8:15, and have a tree stand hung in a pine down wind).....but ever since I started my "slam dunk shot only" policy I haven't missed one. My furthest shot in a couple years has been 7 yards.

When you pick your spot make sue it's somewhere behind the shoulder not focus on his headgear

I just wish I could get close enough to a deer to miss.  Maybe this will be my year.

I think being positive that you can make the shot is half the battle. That being said I have missed my share of the other half the battle, the SHOT itself. It happens we're human. I see guys with wheels on their bows do it all the time. I don't know why we do it but I know I tend to miss high when I miss. I overdraw vs the shortdraw we hear about when faced with the animal. Adrenaline does strange things to us.

I sent one right over the back of 300" class bull just over a week ago. It was a steep downhill shot and him jumping the string didn't help any.  I think the arrow actually skipped off of his back.  Oh well, it was way better than not having that opportunity at all.  I will redeem myself.

I miss a cow elk at 25 yd and didn't get a chance the rest of the hunt and it a 15 day hunt.  Here in Az you may not got but one shot. That is the way hunting goes.
