Seen a nice group tonight.
« on: September 27, 2010, 09:16:00 PM »
Deer were everywhere here in KS tonight. I seen the nices bachelor group of bucks ever. 4 were int his group and I think that 3 of them would of at least been 140+. Hard to tell at just at dark through the binos. Also seen 6 does and a spike that were within 30 yards at one point.

These bucks/does are using a pinch point on the south fenceline of the property and walking east/west. It might be time to move a stand. Or then again. Should I just watch a little more and see if they continue to use it and then move it?

I would be on the move and set up on that pinch point in a heart beat as long as I can get in and out.  When the wind is right I would be there.  There is no telling when they will change food sources or something will change their travels.  Strike while the iron is hot I say.

I don't wait. Lesson learned the hard way.  Move your stand when you see the activity.  I have even moved my stand in the middle of the morning or evening hunt if I see deer constantly using an area out of range.

We watched deer enter a field on Saturday night and moved Sunday afternoon.  We had 9 deer with in 25 yards and my wife got one of them.  Move now.

Well, I got to take a good look at the pinchpoint this afternoon. There was not any trees big enough to place a stand in. I put a blind up in a patch of small trees. This should provide me with a good place and should be secure. I took some light rope and pulled.tied some of the small trees over the blind. Hopefully I can get in there when the wind is right and put some smack down.

Posted a little picture of the property with movement. The blind I placed is the red rectangle at the bottom of the property. Blue lines indicate deer movement and Where I have seen them in the last 3 time I have hunted here. The blind provides me a shot to the north and to the east. It is tucked into the trees a bit.
