I use superglue also to do the lifting edges. I use a wallpaper edge roller to get them down nice and tight. Often apply it on the end of a toothpick so that I don't put on too much.
You can even use plain old mink oil, montana pitch blend, butcher's wax, a coat of satin varathane, etc. for a finish. True oil is great. It is leather so you can use any of these. I had a Hoyt Pro Medalist with rattlesnake on it for about 8 years with only pitch blend on them as a finish. Never failed on me.
