repairing damaged alum arrow

I went stupmin' through the woods this afternoon. Shot a few with blunts. I was hitting good until I shot a rock hard dogwood stump that looked rotten. It certainly wasn't. The arrow hit squarely and bounced back about 20 feet. It curled the shaft back into a rolled edge. Some of the shaft split, so I cut it off. Now the arrow is about 2" too short.

Any suggestions on how to keep it a shooter for more stumpin? Huntin'? How to extend it out to the 30" it was?

my advice is DON"t. your wrist and shooting time is more expensive than saving 4 bucks on a shaft. I keep mine as trophies

I stump shoot with Carbons that are footed with aluminum. they are super tough.

Im pretty sure its wrecked. Maybe save it for someone with a shorter draw if the bulk of the shaft is still straight.

Not worth repairing in my opinion.  I save all my broken arrows because, ah, ah,; well I have no idea.  But I just KNOW I'll find a great use for them someday..

Don't take the chance. That shaft is damaged and if it breaks when you shoot you're going to get hurt.

Is that shaft big enough to go over carbons? I use old 2219s cut to 1 1/2" as footings for my carbons.

It's a 1916. Kinda tiny. I have more on order but was wondering if saving was possible and if any of you do and how. The carbon with alum footing is a good idea. I cut the shaft well past the split so it should be safe for a short armed shooter. Maybe just tip it up and give it to my nephew for his lightweight bow.

Still open for ideas if they are out there.

Ten of you have posted to trash it so far. That's a pretty good lean on the outcome.

My father grew up during the depression and just afterwards. I inherited the "save it just in case" sickness.

I curled one back 1" this summer and I just cut it off and reglued the inserts in it.  It's 1" shorter but my arrows have 2" overhang so it's OK and flies just like the others.  2" is too much and you should trash it or save it for a shorter draw length person.
