Arrow strings

I have two old bows that my grandfather and friend have drug out of their closets. One is a Bear Tigercat. It is stamped Grayling, MI and below that it says Canada 1953. 52" 50#. The other bow is a Shakespeare Wonderbow, model "The Necedah" imposed over a deer head. It is 58" 50# My dad bought this bow at a garage sale in 1972. The thing is the bows are unstrung exactly the same height. Anybody know anything about these? What size strings do I need?

Those bows are no good, send them to me and I can properly dispose of them for you.
Just kidding, congrats on the find, I believe a 48" string and a 54" string should do you fine, you probably will need to get B50 strings though

The Bear needs an AMO 52" String and the Necedah needs an AMO 58". Both bows need Dacron strings.

Both globalism and joe skip are correct. An AMO 52 is about 48". An AMO 58 is about 54".
Get flemish strings for both and have an adjustable string.

I agree that the Necedah is a 58", but I don't remember ever seeing a 52" Tigercat, altho they were made in 58". Is there any chance the number "2" is buggered up and should be an 8?

Fletcher, the Tigercat marking is not buggered up at all, its in beautiful shape. But that is what I meant when I mentioned they TIgercat and the Shakespeare were the same height unstrung. Neither bow has strings on them and one is a 52" (Bear) and the Shakespeare is a 58" but when you stand them up next to each other they are almost exactly the same height.

I think the Tigercat was mis-marked at the factory.
