Has anyone had any experience calling hogs? I know Krista Holbrook had and article in TBM but I thought I would seek more advice.

Got nuttin funny to add, Jed, but saw a primos deer huntin video where Brad used a big buck grunter to call in a passel of pigs...and they later talked about actually making a hog call.
If they market one, with the expense of inventory and production, it must work at least as well as a deer call, but nothing is fool proof.

They are available. Every one I've bought sounds 100% just like a buck grunt call with HOG on it instead of BUCK. As for calling them, I've tried and had little (NO) luck with it. Curtis Kellar hog killer extrodinaire aka Littlefeather has called many and has good luck with it in the right scenario. He only uses mouth/vocals and generally once he has heard hogs in vicinity.

A lone, searching boar will come into a boar/buck grunt a very high percentage of the time, at least that's been my experience. Just set your buck grunt at it's deepest setting and cup the end in your hands.

I have found that grunting (without a call) will relax pigs after they have noticed 'something' but have not smelled me yet.
Never actually tried calling one in like Apex describes.

It works if they give you the right phone #. otherwise just yell at them when your on your moped.
I think any animal can be called with success. It's about the right tones and calls is all.Video/audio tape some hogs near a food source and get an understanding of what they are saying, and how other hogs react to it.

I have mouth grunted them in when I have heard them in the vicinity and they have come in quickly grunting and looking for food on both occasions that I have done it. They were calm and relaxed thinking other hogs were in the area.
