My Son's Hunting Arrows (New Pics)
« on: October 06, 2010, 10:38:00 AM »
My son started making his own gear awhile back and this year he's made up these arrows for hunting.  I thought you all would appreciate them.

Frank, from what I can see they look great. Can you enlarge the photos so we can get a better view? Did he knap his own primitive heads? If he did he is an extremely talented young man.

I'll try with the pictures but yes, he does all of his own knapping.  He builds bows but he says until he builds one that can shoot like his 80# Hill Wesley he won't hunt with it.

he does a great job,id love to do that myself.i collect indian artifacts.iv even thought of taking one of my sharp points iv found and putting it on an arrow for hunting.think it would be kinda cool to kill a deer with a point that was used by an indian to hunt deer also.

I managed to enlarge the pictures.  The arrow on the left is made from Dogwood and spines out at 82#.  The others are hickory.

He does do great work.  The nocks are "self" nocks made with a method he came up with that makes them a slight snap on.  I fI can get a close up of them it's amazing because you swear they are plastic just to look at them.  Thanks for the kind words, I'm rather partial to the guy!

Those are awesome!  Did he split the arrows and plane them, or use a doweler?
