Can I get some help please?
« on: October 06, 2010, 07:24:00 PM »
I have a bow that I would like to identify the maker and the year made if possible.

It has 3 sets of numbers stamped into the wood.

J97- I assume this is the model number

62- is the bow length

43- is the marked bow weight( my scales read 44@28)

The back of the bow is green fiber glass that looks like it made of burlap inside.

The belly side of the limbs is a reddish brown glass.

I can't come close to guessing the wood.

I have some pictures to post.

I'm also hoping to see for myself if the tips are working. If you have an opinion about them let me know.

Thanks in advance!

God bless,Mudd

It's so sweet that it's hard to believe.

You feel nothing or hear anything when you drop the string.

I shot it so well that my last three outings, it got the cal.

Call me crazy, yeppers, it's so.. I left all of those custom bows just hanging and cradled this baby morning and evening for 3 days now.

I just keep thinking how special it would be to get a deer with a near-geezer bow.

Is that the bow you were telling me about? I see what you mean about the rest. Never saw one like that. Hope you get an answer.

The green glass on the back is probably Pantherglass. Made in the 50's/60's. It was woven and that is why it looks like burlap. Don't know why it wasn't used more it was great stuff.

I had one of similar dimensions and very similar handle that I bought at Montgomery wards.  The lams did not look quite as thick, mine was bought in a close out with lots of archery stuff in 1970.  It was an even better shooting bow after I trimmed a few pounds off of the ends of the limbs.  I gave it to a friend and it still gets use every year.  However, I think that arrow rest looks very much like ones that were around in the 60s that we used except ours had the bend sharper and were the other way around.  The two colors of glass does not say mass produced for Montgomery wards somehow.
