90% of the time, I do it just like Dan, but I do use the lineman's belt--actually two of them so I can go around those pesky limbs.

I hunted out of my lone wolf alpha and climbing sticks (3) this weekend.  I either use that or my lone wolf climber.  Most of the time I use the climber, but when there's a tree I cant get a climber up, I take the hang on.

I have only hunted that way on public lands, where you are required to remove your stands daily. It's a lot of work and I don't like to place a stand up before day light. For me, it's a safety issue.

When I do use this tactic, I like to use Lone Wolf climbing sticks. They are very light and pack easily. The River's Edge stands are nice and affordable. I have two of them.

Good luck this season!

Chippewas are great as others said and if ya need a recipe for home made brackets ya can PM me!! I can make them for about 6 or 7 dollars instead of $25. I have about 40 stand sites that are all prepared with steps and a bracket. All I do is carryy stand in, climb the tree and swing the stand off my back and hang it in the bracket and I am hunting. It deters thieves as nobody steals my brackets and I use skyhook steps for the first 5 steps, so unless they have them they cannot climb the tree either! Shawn

I'm going to say yes and yes to that.  The seat on those little loc ons is way too short for me.  Lone Wolf is well thought out and my buddy swears by his Chippewa.

Summit makes a climber called the open shot, it supposedly weighs only 15 pounds.

In my area over the last few years I have about 30 trees spiked.I can carry a hang on in and be up in the tree in no time at all.I do make my hang ons quit as heck. If they are square tube frame's I fill them with expansion foam in the off season. It helps when you bang it to keep it from twanging.Electrical tape on the links of the chain also.

And I carry 2 2 inch pieces of firm foam to add height to the seat,I wrap them in old camo t-shirts.

Two Wolf sticks and stand, and I'm higher than the low canopy. I use to go up about 16' but now I just go up high enough so I'm not in their line of sight. It worked real well last year.

I have climbers but the Lone Wolf gear is so light and easy to carry that I can hunt with it on my back, with my back pack and my quiver.
