Arrows For The Wife's Bow
« on: October 14, 2010, 09:19:00 AM »
my wife has shown interest in shooting with me lately and I finally picked up a bow for her. It's a Ben Pearson Colt 30# @ 28". She draws around 26". My question is what arrows to get for her? I'd like to get her carbons for the durability but when looking at Stu's spine chart they all seemed too stiff. Maybe some 1816 aluminums?

try the carbon express predator II in 20/40.  they are relatively cheap compared to others and darned tough.

I think 1816s will be way too stiff. I would suggest a 28", 1616 with a 125-145 grain point weight and that would be good place to start to tune the arrow. It would be a very heavy arrow GPP wise, but manageable. The only drawback, finding an RPS aluminum screw in insert.

Go with the 1616s. Night Wing is right,  that would be a good start. Leave them long and shorten to tune Pup

I shoot 1716 cut to 26" at 40#@23".  For me, 1816 have to be left full length with 250 grains up front to work.  Hope this helps!

I have a 25# and 35# I keep just for women and kids. They both shoot 1716s the best.
If it's in your way, move it.
