Dryad Windtalker bow Blank Any Thoughts??
« on: October 14, 2010, 01:43:00 PM »
Just found out about the windtalker bow blank from dryad.

Looks like a great deal.

Anyone have any experience with these?

Really like to know about the build quality, smoothness, hand shock, speed etc.

Thanks a bunch!!

You probably will get more response if you put Windtalker bow blank in the title.

These blanks are the same bow as our Oracle longbow and we sell a bunch of both.

I did one last year, made a sweet bow from it.I added real western diamondback skins on mine.Draws smooth and shoots great,I enjoyed finishing it out. Can't wait for the osage riser to age more.

Got one at Compton a few years ago...great value, easy to finish if you don't hurry. Great instructions. Performance was very good, easy to get quiet and it liked a heavy arrow. I traded it off because I dropped poundage but I would buy another someday!!

I bought 2 but have not done anything with them. A friend of mine finished his and it turned out great.
He had it at the range and was faster than I thought it would be.

I have finished four of these bows, one for every member of the family, and myself.
It is an easy project to complete, and these bows are good performers.
Mike and family are excellent people who supply great service, and a great product, at a good price.
IMHO, you can't go wrong with Dryad bows.
Best of luck, Zradix

R.W and others...

I've never tillered a bow.
I've read and watched vids on how to do it.
But still no experience.

Do these bows need quite a bit in the tillering dept.? Or are they darn near done.

To me tillering always seemed to be a MAJOR component of what makes a great shooting bow.

Just a little leary of my abilities in that dept.

Thanks all!

Bows are already pretty much tillered, you have to finish the bow and do fine tuning on handel.  Dryad has a very good tutorial on their website on how to do this.

Thanks for the tutorial hint.
Helps a lot.
Doesn't show any tillering needed there.

Does say to count the sanding strokes though.

Great help everyone!

The blanks are engineered and come out the same as the ones we build for ourselves.  They normally will need minimum tillering but that is done with a sanding block and 150 grit paper on the belly side of the limb.  Very easy too do and hard to screw up.  LOL
