Persimmons

I just found a grove of persimmon trees that have alot of fruit on them.  I know that the acorns are all over the place now, but I was wondering if anyone knows how long the fruit stays on the trees, and when the deer start feeding on the persimmons.  I would think after the acorns start to run low, but I really don't have any idea.  First time that I've had the opportunity to hunt around persimmon trees..

I have Persimmon trees in my front yard. The deer have been feeding on them for a bout a month. Fruit is almost gone now.

hunt it cause it is there favorite food,even with acorns on the ground theyll hit those persimmons

I think it depends, on what I dont know, but some years the persimmons stay on the trees later. This year they seem to be almost gone already. I would hunt around acorns if there are a lot of them and check the persimmons later on.

All of our persimmons are gone down here....They will hit them when they are falling or if they can reach them.  I suggest hunting themm.

I would be looking for scat under them to see if there is any feeding activity. And don't plan on putting a screw in tree step in a persimmon either.

I have several groves of 3-5 trees where I hunt. They have been falling since mid-September but many are still on the trees.  I have a trail cam on one grove. Deer, possum, raccoons, and a red fox visit the grove every evening. Usually there are still persimmons on the trees by mid-November but I think they ripened early (drought here) like almost everything else and will be gone.

They start getting ripe here around first of October and usally last untill we get a couple of good frost. Deer love em, I've killed a bunch hunting over them in the early part of the season here.

They definitely like them. Possums like 'em before the frost. That's why they smile so much.
