Arrow question

This is my second post here, and I want to thank yall for letting me join your forum!!

  I am about to get a 45lb Ben Pearson Javelina, and I need to buy arrows. My length of pull is about 30". What spine arrows should I buy since I am going to be pulling this bow over the 28" at 45lbs?.

What kind of arrows are you looking to get will narrow it down.

Wood, carbon or aluminum?

Woods I would guess a 50-55 or 55-60 spine at that length

Carbon 5575 with about 200 grains up front

Aluminum 2016 or 2114 with 145 or so up front.

All arrows roughly 30.5 to 31"

Unfortunately, there really isn't a "pat", easy answer to your Q, because there are so many variables involved: the least of which are draw wt and draw length.

I'd guess that with a 'true' 30" draw length, you're going to be pulling 50# or close to it. So that would be the absolute base/bottom for spine selection with a 28" arrow, BOP. You can probably add a minimum of 10# due to your 30" draw length, which put's it up to 60# spine, just for starters.

Most spine charts are based upon the use of 125gn points. If you're going to increase the wt up front beyond 125gn, that weakens the spine more, so once again you'd have to select an even stiffer shaft.

As you can see, it just goes on and on, and we haven't addressed arrow rest and/or release form.

Of course, if you decide upon carbon shafts, that's another "crap shoot", as the spine charts for carbons has the "old timers" scratching the heads and spending their $$$!

Your best bet would be to find a good "Pro" shop for some initial help in narrowing down a workable spined shaft for you.  It might cost a bit more up front, but could result in savings in the long run.

BTW, I hope that BP Javalina is capable of handling your 30" draw length?  I'm not familiar with the bow, other than knowing it's a vintage bow, made during a time when many had an AMO length of 60", or less.
