So far it has been worth it.
« on: October 27, 2010, 09:16:00 AM »
Well since I haven't had the chance to get out into the woods much yet I had requested a few days off.

Monday was warm but tolorable as I sat in the East section of the club but there was not a single bit of movement, not even a squirel but did see a Hawk land a few yards from me.

Yesterday was better although hotter  :(  & since I got out there to the North Section late I decided to so a still hunt to my stand.
Did see a nice Doe but she was already walking away around 60 yards when I spoted her.
Moved to the West Section & sat at a spot I had taken 2 deer in the past but as fate would have it I got a phone call from the lady who get's my 9 year old telling me about the soccer game she'd be at & I thought to move but toughed it out.

Almost 17:30 I was standing next to 2 trees looking at a rub in the distance when I heard a grunt behind me.
Turned around to look & there was a nice doe browsing maybe 16 yards from me, I brought my bow up & began to draw when she spooked & there he was, a nice 5 pointer.
Since the Doe had moved to the brush I thought to take the buck but then he stopped & just stared at me for what seemed for ever, once he turned around & then stared at me again all this time I'm at half draw wishing he'd move his head away for just a second.
Well as fate has it he moved back twords where he came but stoping to eye me again before moving off.

That was a rush & well worth every moment, I can't wait to be out there again.

I think the excitement of having your quary close & having your heart racing is the best part of the hunt.

Thank you huskyarcher, that is my most cherrished bow & I tend to shoot it the best of all of my bows.
