November Road Trip!
« on: October 27, 2010, 09:33:00 PM »
Getting the gear packed.  Leaving out Friday morning on my annual November road trip to NW Penna!  November is that magic time in a lot of the country.  Who else is headed somewhere?  November is a fun time in the whitetail woods and fun to watch the PowWow threads as well.  Good luck and Godspeed!

Man that sounds good. Have fun and travel safely.
Once I retire I will be making trips like that. While I am still working for a paycheck I will have to hunt on Saturdays and the occasional evening when I can get off work before dark.

I am thinking about back to Grayling,Mi for a few days before gun season opens.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out, with bible in hand and loudly proclaim...WOW...What a Ride!!!

Heading to New Jersey in a couple of weeks for a few days of Deer hunting with my brother. Trying to make this an annual thing and spend some time together. I just heard from him and he says the bucks are starting to act nutty! The rut is almost upon us.

went out to western MD Friday and sat of last week, and things were just starting to heat up . . .

Going for 4 days this coming Thursday, for fall Turks and hidden public land bruisers . . .

Then back again day after Thanksgiving! For as many days as I can!!!

October is my month, but November is alright I guess  :biglaugh:

A quick update - with a refreshed spirit and a full quiver, I returned home yesterday from the trip to Pennsylvania.  I had a number of close encounters but never closed the deal.  Over 20 buck sightings, passed a few smaller legal bucks but never got a shot at a good one.  Saw a couple of bucks in the 120 class and one that was 130-140 catagory.  Twice he was chasing a doe that got within 12 yards of me and busted me with wind or scent and he never came in range.

I know a lot of guys think that PA has ruined the deer hunting over the last couple of years but its still pretty special to me.  Yes it has changed, but not negatively in my opinion.

It does the soul good to eat, sleep and hunt for 9 days straight!
