Looking for Hog Outfitter for combo hunt
« on: November 02, 2010, 01:36:00 PM »
So I am looking for someone who can handle trad and rifle on the same trip. I'm on the hook to take my step-father-in-law on a hog hunting trip the last week of Feb 2011.

Can you suggest anyone? I know about Oceola, but since I'm paying for two and one with a gun I'd prefer not to have to pay trophy fees. Also prefer an outfitter with bed and food provided. He's not the rough it kind of guy - typical weekend gun hunter type.

However, since I will be hunting with a longbow I really would like to go to someone who understands my needs too.

The quest to improve is so focused on a few design aspects & compensating for hunter ineptness as to actually have reduced a bow & arrow’s effectiveness. Nothing better demonstrates this than mech. BHs & speed fixated designs

You'll be much happier, and I bet your SF would too, if you'd go with your buds on a bowhunt, then take him on a different hunt at a different time, with a gun.

Guess this is sort of what I'm trying to do. My buds hunt is coming up at CKs after Solana. This is my pay back hunt for dumping my wife and 3 yo on him and my MIL for 10 days while I trad hunt. MIL could use a break from him and I get to feel less guilty about always asking her to drive 5 hours every time I want a long weekend to hunt (my wife became disabled shortly after our 3yo was born and can't care for him alone).

Just concerned that if I go to a gun operation they will look at me crossways when I whip out my longbow and may not have stands compatible with my LB or won't hant areas i can safely still hunt/spot and stalk.

I know Oceola can do it, but they are a bit pricey for hogs because of the trophy fees on meat hogs (which of course with my luck on hogs won't matter much..lol), but fit the bill in every way. Just looking for options.

Tony,

Give Rob Kiebler a call he did a archery/gun hunt for me and my boy. Turned out very well for us as we both had a chance to hunt the way we wanted without bothering each other.
