shrew classic hunter
« on: November 09, 2010, 07:49:00 PM »
I'm wondering with a draw of 27 1/4" if a Shrew Classic Hunter 56" long would be ok for me. I see where guys with 29" and up draw lengths shoot the shorter models but I'm more interested in the longer one. I've never shot one and really don't have access to one. Just looking for a little input from anyone. Thanks

I have a 30 inch draw and shoot a 56 inch Classic Hunter. with only a 27 inch draw any length of Classic Hunter should be fine and preform no problem

I have experience with both a 54 and 56 CH and my draw length is similar to yours. Both are smooth and highly shootable bows. From my perspective you are splitting hairs trying to decide which one to go with. I honestly could not pick one over the other as I like both. They are super bows.TM

I went with the 56" CH with a 27" draw and love it.

Having a shorter draw length is no problem with the 56" CH. You will love it if you get one. If you see a 54" CH for sale first, don't pass it up just hoping you will find a 56".

Up at deer camp last week the local CO stopped in camp to visit one day. He usually stops a time or two when we're up there. He use to hunt with a compound but a few years ago got a 66" longbow. I think we influenced him to go traditional.

Any way I let him try out the Armstrong Ghost bow which is a Classic Hunter 54" 52#@ 28". His reaction was..  WOW! then he said, "was this bow made for me?" He couldn't believe how smooth the draw and he wanted to know why he wasn't getting any finger pinch and why he shot it better than his 66" bow. I told him it was because of the bows design.
He said he could see a Shrew bow in his future and when I told him of the waiting time to get one he said, "I can see why"..   :archer2:

Here's Dave the CO from an earlier visit

We live in the present, we dream of the future, but we learn eternal truths from the past
When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice.
Life is like a wet sponge, you gotta squeeze it until you get every drop it has to offer
