Gray Wolf wolfhide vs. Day one bucksuede???
« on: November 10, 2010, 10:53:00 PM »
I know this has been gone over before but I am still looking for opinions.
Is the wolfskin that much quieter or better than the day one bucksuede? I keep going back and forth deciding between the two. Once I get the GW with pockets etc, I will have $350 in an unlined outfit. The Day one is going to be about $200. Thats a big difference!
I read some people say the bucksuede is quiet some say no? Although I havn't read hardly any complaints on the Wolfskin.
I am looking for an unlined pullover and pants in Predator Spring green for turkey and early season bow.
I am debating on looking at fleece in Predator fall gray also.
I hate to buy 2 outfits but I am not convinced the fall gray is the best choice for spring and early fall with leaves still on?
For those that have looked at or own both companies stuff. Is the GW worth that much extra $ for the wolfskin? Thanks Steve

I use Wolf Skin throughout the season and love it. It seems to get softer with each wash and is as quite as anything I have worn.

As for Bucksuede I have little experience with it and really cannot remember how is performed but will say I having a Spring Green top and bottom on order since GWW is out.

Whatever you do order quickly and both custom make their clothing lines for the most part and have wait times right now.

GWW told me they were out to mid December or later and Day One told me two weeks and I have been waiting over a month.

I have an unlined wolfskin jacket that, along with my wool fedora, kept me dry and warm through a long day out in the rain. Only my shoulders were damp at the end of the day, and the jacket was dry completely dry in less than an hour after I took it off.

The customer service at GW is top notch and I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again.  My experience with Day One, well, I won't be ordering from them again.

I have not used the GW stuff, but I have unlined bucksuede pants and a saddle cloth jacket, both of which are very quiet. Bucksuede and saddle cloth are very similar but are made with different materials. Of the two, bucksuede is a bit softer. I like the fact that burrs won't stick to either one, and boy, do we have burrs!

I got both the pants and the jacket from the Predator Camo website for $20 each. I'd like to have a pair of saddle cloth bibs, but $200 for one pair of pants is beyond my reach at this point in my life.

I've had the GW wolfhide and also a fleece from DayOne. I regret selling them both. Both companies products and customer service was top notch. As for the Predator pattern. I love Predator camo. For spring turkey and early bow season, you can't go wrong with Spring Green. The Fall Grey, in my opinion, is great for after the leaves fall in a treestand and pretty good on the ground. The fall brown, if you can find it, is invisible on the ground in early spring and fall. I've literally walked by squirrels that were looking at me while wearing the Spring Green and Fall brown...several times.
Good luck,
Kyle

I'll ditto that one, I don't have any wolfskin  but I have several wool items from them. High quality at a good price, that's what has me sold to gray Wolf products.

I have the lined parka, unlined pullover, lined and unlined pants from Day One in Bucksuede and Saddleclothe. Both materials are very similar. The more you wash them the softer they get. The unlined clothing is still pretty wind proof and tough as nails. Love my Day One camo.

I have owned KOM and Day One and all I own now is Gray Wolf. I have the pants, shirt and lined vest in wolfskin and a shirt and pants in wool. It is expensive, but the quality and the customer service is great. I accumulated mine over the course of several years. Had the family go in together and get me a shirt for Christmas ect. Sold my KOM ect. to get the pants. Side jobs for the rest. Well worth the cost. Mike

First year for me and GWW. Bought a lined wool vest at Compton and WOW ! Love the deep pockets and long tail. It also has a collar that is taller in the back than the front. Very well thought out designs and quality is second to none. Yes, costs some $$$ compared to other clothes, but worth every penny. I can pass this down to my grandkids, it is that good ! JMHO
