Use for Texas Ebony and Black Cherry

The use of Texas Ebony (Pithecellobium ebano) and Black Cherry (Prunus serotina)
I have done research but to no avail I cannot find anything as to bow making with these two woods. I am very sure the ebony, being a very heavy wood, would be great in risers and inlays, but as to the Black cherry, has it been used in limb cores or just as riser material.
Any special prep needed to make these woods take a stain and also finish would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks all, Kevin

I have a Green Mt. Classic longbow with all black cherry limb wood.It s a great shooting bow, black cherry I think is an excellent limb wood for longbows. The Texas Ebony wood make a good riser wood.I've seen ebony in limbs but only as a veneer for looks.

Kevin:
Beware a lot of Bowyers have had severe allergetic reactions to Texas Ebony. Mike Palmer is one, he can make one or two cuts with the band saw before he has trouble.

TX ebony is a great riser wood. I like it better than Macassar or African ebony b/c the grain is tighter and easier to fill. I have never had an alergy problem from the dust. No experience with black cherry.

Craig Ekin offers TX Ebony as a riser option on his HH longbows.
