Brace Height

I have a 72" English longbow from Rudderbows Archery. It came with one string and I ordered a second string when I ordered the bow. Both strings are the same length and give me a brace height of 8.5" Is that unusually high for an ELB? I was under the impression that they are usually around 6"-7". The string is not twisted very much, and I am afraid of untwisting it too much.

Rudderbows does not specify what the brace height should be. I emailed them with this question, but they haven't responded yet - they are probably working like crazy because of Black Friday.

That sounds high to me for a 72" English longbow,I think it would be around 6" to 6.5" brace. That would be too much untwisting of that string, but check with the bowyer.
