Older bows & FF strings

I'm looking at picking up a Browning Nomad Stalker and/ or a K-Mag.  Are either of these bows able to handle SBD strings?

Or, if not, do any of our sponsors offer slightly skinnier B-50 strings?

Right now I have a 14-strand B-50 on a 40# Pearson and the serving is REALLY tight with my GT nocks.  Tried sanding the GT's wider but haven't tried the hot water trick yet.

Thought I'd look into a skinnier string/serving.  Thoughts?

14 strands is a ton for a B50 string on a 40# bow.  You could get by easily with 10 strands, maybe 8.

I am using since last year a skinny D97 on my Green Tip limbs with a 1982 Bear TD.But they are really beated and if they brake it isn't a great issue.Anyway so far so good.

8 strands is going to stretch like crazy.  I'd go 12, no less than 10.

For my older recurves I like to spin up an endless dacron for them,it's safe and I feel it has less stretch then a flemish string.Put on some cat whiskers and it is just as quiet as a flemish dacron.

near impossible to go skinny on old bows that can't safely handle hmpe strings.  dacron (polysester) strings can't be dropped in strand count without suffering stretch and probably breakage (the string and/or the bow!)  do what chad suggests!

Pd, what weight are you planning to go with? If it's the widely, popular, made 45lbs. I would try 8 or 10 strands of dacron, also!

If made properly, it should be fine at that weight. Also, I wouldn't be "scared" to try a "New Age" material on said above bow.

Heck, I'll even make 'em for ya, to try.
