Dang yankee in Texas:

I'm going to do my best not to pollute Texas too much but I'm leaving tomorrow night at 7:30 PM. I've been fortunate to have been invited down to a friends ranch in Texas. He shot a thirteen pointer a few weeks back so I know there are deer on the property. My friend also said there are two other bucks that he has seen that are much bigger than the one he got. I'll be taking my Palmer recurve with me, and a 45/70 Browning and my 7MM rem. I'll also be looking to put the hurt on some hogs and yots as like most other areas he does have an infestation problem. I don't know exactly how large the property is but he is 5 miles off of black top, he does not fence his property so what ever is there I guess would be considered as free range.
Wish me luck, be back in a week.

In Texas, we have big temperature swings at this time of the year. It can be 80 degrees one day, 35 degrees the next day so bring both warm and cool weather clothing. Good luck on your hunt.

Thanks for the info. my buddy has been sending me weather reports for the last few days. It's not going to be easy figuring out what to bring due to the airline restrictions on weight. I'm thinking a good wool sweater and vest some long johns, then I could layer with my early season hunting clothes, two pairs of boots one early season one late season. Won't be the first time I got cold while hunting.
Be back later, have to go and get the TSA locks for the firearms.
Thanks again

Yes Dan, I am taking the Palmer. That is my go to bow for hunting because it's so fast, even with a heavy arrow.
straitera thanks, My friend asked me if I am afraid of snakes, I told him no but scorpions make my skin crawl, he laughed.
I'll be in Sabinal TX. supposed to be about two hours outside of San Antonio, I'll keep you guys posted form there.
Thanks again to all.

good luck, and leave the guns at home. It'll make you hunt better, and you'll enjoy it more.

Grapes, I would but he would like to kill a lot of pigs, and he really wants to see my 45/70 Browning. It's my got to rifle, but I'm mostly bringing it so he can shoot it as he would like to get that caliber.
Hopefully I'll be using the bow more than the rifles, I have plenty of arrows and BH.
