I live in the south of france.there are no clubs nearby. I speak terrible french and the nearest bowhunter i have been able to locate is 2hours away. I want a take down bow and have been looking at the samick hunter and lightning. The lightning has a much shorter riser, is stretching my budget, and i have not been able to fimd a place that supplies just the limbs if/when i want to up the power of the bow. Has anyone got any experience of either or both, and i draw at just over27" so i thought a 45# would be a good weight. The legal hunting weight is 40, but i have to come up to par before i can get a permit. Theres a practical shootout as well as all the firearms regs and the usual stuff. It would be much easier to get a gun permit, but i am a sucker for punishment, and the game deserves a fair chance. I looked on the big auction site for ages, but i dont want to buy rubbish and ship it around the world too. The take down aspect gives me alot more freedom to go into the woods for practice etc without the forestry people seeing me with a bow etc. Theres alot of roebuck deer here and sanglier/ wild boar and they haven't been hunted with a bow around here. The boar tend to be below 200lbs and i would like to fill the freezer when i am good enough. Apologies for the long topic but all the local rifle/shotgun hunters just laugh when i tell them i want to hunt with a couple of sticks and some string. I contemplated going the wheelie route, but the lack of expertise round here and the simplicity of trad hunting has just got me hooked. I am building a house in wood by hand.... Need i say more. I wish i had the finese to build my own bow... Maybe one day when the house is done and i have more of an understanding of bows. Thanks on advance.
