South Cox and Stalker Bows
« on: December 23, 2010, 08:44:00 AM »
Well after being fortunate enough to win the "Name the bow" contest, I called South at Stalker bows yesterday. I almost felt funny calling a guy I don't know and asking about a free bow!!
Let me tell you, South was very nice to talk to and very down to earth!
I got the bow on order and he said somewhere around 8 weeks I should have it. Def will post pics when I get it!!! Although I told him several times on the phone yesterday, I just want to publicly say thank you to him. Steve

I love my Stalker recurve. South knows how to build a great looking and shooting bow. I'm sure you'll be happy. What model and woods? Congrats on the winning submission, my choices must've been close behind

Yep South's a great guy with a ton of talent. Something I have not shared here but would like to: right before I left on my elk hunt this year I went to unstring my new recurve that I had just ordered. I don't know if I tripped, slipped or what, but the string came off and hung in the tip. It twisted the limb. I called South and asked him to take a look at it and shipped it that next day. Not only did he look at it and offer to fix the limb, he found out where I was headed and sent me a "try out" bow to hunt with in WY. It got there the day I arrived in WY. After that I am a Stalker fan for life. I ended up keeping the try out bow because it was the sweetest shooting recurve I have ever owned!

The 3 names for the different riser wood flares are the Tracker, Scout, and the Bishwhacker, and the 2 names to designate the different riser grips are the .. Classic and the Hybrid.
As far as wood choices , I went with Bocote and Ebony in the riser and just asked South to pick the veneers for the limbs. Whatever he thought he had that went well with the riser woods. I ordered a 58" bow 47-48lb at my draw.
Can't wait to get it, should be a beauty!! I will post pics when she arrives. Steve
