New to Trad Bow Hunting

I tried shooting my buddies long bow last year for the first time and really enjoyed it. Due to financial hardship I havn't been able to look into getting a bow until now. Firearms deer season ends this weekend and I think that now would be the perfect time to start shooting. Just wondering if anybody has any ideas on a good fairly priced bow to start out with?

I started out ages ago with a used recurve, and I think it was a very affordable way to get things started. I would recommend that you start with a bow that is 45# or under until you can figure out what draw weight works best for you.
The TradGang site is a good place to learn. Welcome to the brotherhood.

I would suggest doing search on this topic. I believe you will find an abundance of very useful information that will "help you".
I emphasized the "help you" because in the end it will all come down to what you decide.

It will take you some posting to become eligible to use the classifieds section, but there are a lot of good used bows for sale there. There is a lot of good info on this site and lot of people who share a wealth of knowledge. I learn something every time I am on. Go to the highlights forum and read and congratulate the members on their skill and luck. that will not only build your posts quick it will show you what is possible with your choice of hunting gear. The "search " link at the top of the page is very useful. Enjoy and welcome.

The best bet is too buy used and buy light. If you think you want 55# get 45#. The nice thing about used bows is they retain value. When it's time to move up to that Dryad custom bow, you can sell the used bow for what you have in it.

Welcome! The very best in advice & info can be found here. The classified section has a number of great used bows of different designs & draw wts. to look thru. (need 100 posts to sell, but you sure can buy, as I have!) See a bow that interests ya? Do a "search" on it. Honest opinions on just about every bow available can be found there. As others have said, start light (to develop good form) & keep it FUN! Keith
