Almost took my eye out
« on: January 01, 2011, 10:32:00 PM »
I was shooting my longbow day before yesterday and noticed that one of the Cat-whiskers looked like it was coming undone. Since I had a pretty good group going I took the last arrow from my quiver and sent it on it's way. I immediatetly felt a terrible sting on my eye. Apparently a piece of the rubber Cat-whisker flew off and struck my closed eye. My eye stung quite a bit but I finished my shooting session. Upon enternig the house for dinner my daughter pointed at my eye and commented on how gross it looked. Looking in the mirror I saw that I had a huge blood blister on the white part of my eye. What if my eye had been open was my first thought. Anyway rest assurd that I will always check them Cat-whiskers before shooting. The funny thing is that my shooting remains just as bad after being struck.
One stick, one string and an arrow I'll fling!

I've been serving mine in on my bows for quite some time now.

Glad it wasn't more serious than it is.

I haven't been serving mine in. Now I will. I didn't imagine you could be harmed by a cat-whisker!

Thanks, that's a good reminder of how fragile and important our eyes are.

Glad you came out of it o.k.

Glad nothing more serious happened.

I came within 3 months of marrying a woman that did that to me.  Didn't use a catwhisker.

Dang! Anyone heard of such a thing with wooly boogers?
