I hear in the news about all the flooding in NE Australia. They give the damage estimates in terms of billions of dollars, etc. Worst floods in 30 years they say.
I know there are several ozzy TG members, and I hope you are all are doing OK. I'm also curious what this is doing to the countryside and the critters, how all are coping. What is it like there?

Ben Maher

The floods are a fair way from me ... but even down south after years of drought , we have lost most of crops to the rains .

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone up north .... the flood is bigger than Germany and France combined and it rained again up there last night .

All the pigs will be breeding up though .....

A couple of TG'ers live up that way ...

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.

The flooding has put some hunting plans on hold for quite some time. I'm not a scientist, but as I understand it, during El Nino we have really good hunting in the arid / desert interior; it is now La Nina, and that pretty-much makes it very difficult / impossible / not worthwhile to do those big trips for goats and camels. El Nino brings drought to much of Australia, which is bad for the pastoralists but good for bowhunting; La Nina brings flooding, which is good for pastoralists (often no so good for farmers), but not good for bowhunting.

Definitely strange weather here this year.  We're experiencing a severe drought here in the west, while the is east flooding.  We are getting rain north of Perth though, Carnarvon got a years worth in one day a few weeks ago and is flooding again today.  I've got a hunting trip to the desert planned in a couple weeks and hope it stay at least a little dry!

No fun!  Prayers for all the Aussies.
