help with noisy poor performing bow

I have 11 bows.  One is just a non-performer.  It is a PSE.
All of the PSE's are on the low performance side. This one is a three piece take down.  It is the only take down I have ever owned.  After owning it a year I decided to try to improve it.  The strike plate measured + 1/16 in the belly and + 1/8 on the back.  

I have taken it to - 1/16 on the back and belly.  I have shot it a few times and I think it is better.  Most of my archery equipment is currently at my farm so I must wait a while before I do any more.

But, it going over the bow I noticed that the limbs have a gap at the riser and I can slide a piece of paper in the gap about a half of an inch.

Is the normal? If not what can I do?

I have heard guys talking about putting like a mole skin or some type of thin cushioning in where the limb fits into the riser. That might work.

ya if your talking about a little creaking in the bow cause i have a pse and i took some mole skin and put it under the limbs/on top of the riser and it all went away. and what model bow is it???

It is a Heritage Impala.
I thought about that but did not know if the gap is a normal design.

Wax the limb well with paste-wax and bed it in epoxy at the riser sockets.

Or, don't wax them and make it a one-piece bow.

I like that idea of bedding in with epoxy and keeping it a three piece, if that is what needs to be done.

You could get compressed cork at any craft store and cut to fit.  Alot of bowyers do that with there bows.  I always wax the post.

cork or mole skin will do the Job, also try heavy arrows to help with noise.

Depending on how I am understanding your description, the gap may well be there to prevent the limb from contacting the riser at full draw.
Bees wax and or cork certainly won't hurt, and something like an SBD bowstring may perk thing up if the current string is a dud. Other than that you might consider selling the bow and putting the money towards one of the hot bows being produced by our sponsors.

 I was hoping for someone who had the same problem or one of our bow building sponsors who has lots of knowledge in this specific area.

I had a PSE Impala take down.  It was not a bad bow as far as performance but it did not have a very good finish on the riser and there were some sharp edges on the limbs. If I remember correctly, I put a piece of mole skin between the limbs and the riser.  Bill

Personally, I don't like any of the traditional equipment that is made by PSE, but if I was concerned about that gap creating sound I would find a thin piece of rubber and cut out a rectangle that would fit between the limb and the riser. A cut of out inner-tubing might be ok, but just get a thin walled one.
