Ditto on 'Elk and Elk hunting' by Hartt Wixom,
useful book.

But for up close on the ground tactics you can't beat Elknuts collection. Got to love his enthusiasm.
Hunting was hazardous, but at least it guaranteed the freedom of the individual.

There is no doubt that the onset of farming saw the end of leasure for the majority of people, who were destined to toil in the fields.

There is definately a learning curve to calling in bulls.
Join a credible hunting organization, participate in it, and take a kid hunting. Member: U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance, NWTF, Oregon Hunter's Assn., Oregon Bow Hunters and  Oregon Foundation for Blacktailed Deer.
