Found a shed on January 8, 2011, in Wisconsin, 3rd one found in our family in last 2 weeks. Anyone else finding sheds yet this season?

I haven"t yet.Seen 5 bucks this eve. still packing both sides.Always a few found this time of year here in southern Iowa.Any day now

My belief is that is they are shedding early they are weak from either a very harsh winter or suffered some injury during hunting season (or elsewhere). I have twice pulled the antlers off deer I've shot in late December and early January but in each case they had been hit earlier in the hunting season(s).
I usually wait until late February or early March and concentrate on the bedding areas.
