64" recurve?

I myself prefer longer bows.  I now shoot nothing under 62 inches.  I have had some 58 inch bows, and ended up getting rid of them.  I just cannot shoot them as well.  The extra length has never hindered me much in the treestand.

I have 66" and 62" recurves along with shorter ones.  I have shot one 64" and it just seems like the perfect length for me.  

To answer your question it seems most folks currently deem 64" to be long for a recurve.

Shoot what you like.  If there was one right answer on the kind of bow that would take a significant amount of fun out of the entire traditional archery experience.  We also wouldn't have so many great bows and bowyers out there.

I have two recurves, Silvertips, and they are 64 - no problems, and I do hunt thick coutry - but try a few different ones and decide what is best for your preference.

The recurves i build are 64" or 60".I can shoot both fine.Although my go to bow is 64".I have a 31" draw and it just feels better to me.

I have only one bow that works out to 64 inches and that is my ACS which is a longbow. I shoot it as well as anything that I own.

My favourite recurves are all a little longer, at 66 inches, a 1961 Kodiak Special, a 1963 Kodiak Special and a 1963 Polar.

I have a draw length of between 30 and 31 inches and the longer bows just shoot better for me.

Soon I will be receiving my Jon Gahring take down and it is a 62 inch bow, it will be a mate for my 62 inch Chek Mate. I expect both these bows to shoot fine for me as well. I shoot all my bows with two fingers under most of the time, and that seems to help with string pinch on the shorter bows.

So I guess that what I am saying is if 66 inch bows and 62 inch bows shoot well, then there is no reason to believe that a 64 incher would not be just as nice.

I hunt with a 64" Trees Custom Shadowhawk recurve. If you are worried about limb clearance you need to put it in real life perspective. The difference between a 60" and 64" bow is 2" on each end. There is very little difference in length when you think about it like that in a hunting situation.

I have 2 64" river raisin bows  they are the longest long bow i have  great shooters

jack howard's gamemaster jet's were 66" long. best shooting and hunting recurve i ever had, and regret every single day having to had sold it. i'm 5'7" with a 26" draw.

Yup- 62 and 64 for me.  30+" draw.  Smooth and forgiving.  Never had a problem in the woods.  

Also- some of the newer curves have a shorter riser with longer limbs =  some modern 62" curves feel and shoot like older 64" bows.

Wisconsinteacher... my opinion: 64" recurve is on the longer end of the spectrum.  A 64" will be very forgiving and you will probably shoot tighter groups.  For hunting, a 64" is considered by many a little long.  For 3D and target shooting, a 64" is great.  My recurves are 64".  My longbows are 64" and 62".  These lengths work the best for me.  Best of  luck with your decision.

I was hunting with 58"-60" bows two years ago and finally noticed that I was short drawing them due to the weight.  I dropped weight an increased DL (to 30") and now get a more consistent anchor and release (and better performance from the limbs).  I have found that the shorter bows don't really work as well anymore and now shoot bows 62-64" in length for everything.

I have a 64" Blacktail and a 66" Wes Wallace.  I just ordered 66" limbs for the Blacktail.  I have a 30" draw.  The longer recurves feel better to me and I shoot them more accurately than the 60 and 62".
