String length
« on: January 14, 2011, 09:33:00 PM »
I just bought a bow off of the auction site for my wife that didn't come with a string. Its a Browning Mohawk 54" I'm not even sure what length of string it needs, if anyone could help me out. Also if I could be pointed to a good place to buy a string for it that would be great.

Usally about 3" shorter then the AMO length will work on most bows longbow or recurve.

50-51" (measured under tension) should work.  Flemish will be more adjustable than endless, but otherwise either will work fine.

I'm guessing it's a Recurve? 50" string

Longbow..51" string. Be sure to specify to the string maker whether it's a Recurve or Longbow, Also tell him which nock your shooting on your arrows. That will give them a good starting point on your serving.

Check the sponsors Classifieds, There are several top quality string makers there. PM them and see what works best for you.
