Javalinas near Dallas?
«

If the Steelers go to the Super Bowl I may be going to Dallas for the game.
Does anyone know of an outfitter for a Javalina or hog hunt near Dallas? Is early Feb. open to hunt them in Texas?
Thanks for any input!

I went on a recent hunt west of San Antonio and from what I understand is the javalina are being pushed out by the hogs, I was on a friends ranch for one week and we didn't see any javalina, he didn't mention if they were even on the property.
Good luck.

There are no javelina anywhere near Dallas. Javelina are considered a "desert peccary". South and West Texas are where they live.

Texas is a mighty big state. As Night Wing said there are no javelina near Dallas. Feral hog, yes, javelina, no. 7 or 8 hours SW maybe.

Check for SW Airlines flight to San Antonio from Dallas & get hooked up there. If you give them 2 weeks you can get a good price. I don't know of anyone in San Antonio but I'm sure there are plenty of outfitters & maybe a TG'er or two who might make you an offer. Plenty of javes in & around San Antone. Good luck.

Fly to San Antonio and try as above. Straitera knows. Dallas is North Texas. Why screw around with javelinas when ya can drive an hour or so east/ south of town and kill hogs all day long?

Wichita Falls area has some Javelina. I think it is around 150 miles northwest of Dallas.

I have a buddy I've spoken of here in my "night vision" thread, who is a Sheriff's deputy. Killed an almost #300 boar just and I mean just across the Dallas/Kaufman county line along the bottomlands of the Trinity River. THAT IS CLOSE.

Ya might want to heed High Points's thoughts. You are going to need to travel sout of San Antonio a good bit to get to the Javie's.
Hogs, on the other hand are a scurge on the landscape and most ranchers, although they may charge ya, are glad to have them shot. Their populations are higher, from my experience, south also.
I am only familuar with private lands in south Texas. Cant really put ya in the brush on this.
