Picked up a new long bow at the NC State shoot
« on: June 06, 2007, 04:55:00 PM »
After shooting both sides and was totally worn out from shooting all day and enduring the heat I went by Mike Treadways (great guy by the way!) and was talking to him about his bows.  I picked up this little number and walked to the range to fling a few arrows.  Even after shooting all day and being tired I shot it better than the bow I brought with me. So I had to adopt it, bring it home and show it some love.

Here are a few pics: (after all what good is a post without pics!!)

Thanks guys! I have just been out shooting it.  Man I can't put it down.  Any deer that walks within 20 yards of me is dead it just don't know it yet.  We have a 3D this saturday at our club and I know I'm gonna do better than I ever have with it.

Wonder if it needs a name??

Sorry guys but I havn't heard about him in Aussie.  Is he the guy who does the trick archery (coins out of the air, tv shows), and his bows are sponsored by Martin??

Are they expensive??

Hey sutto, the guy who shoot things out of the air would be Byron Ferguson.  Treadway just makes really good looking and shooting bows for a reasonable cost, somewhere around $450-500.  But there is about a years wait for one unless you get one of his stock bows at a show.  You could probably get one by calling him

Barry,
You were one of many who bought bows from Mike at the shoot.  I was at the state shoot and it was a blast. Made me nervous to see all of those new bows.  My treadway will not be ready till late summer.  I like that target you are shooting. Are they made in North Carolina?  Where can I get one?

A friend made the target but I don't know if is still making them.

Doug, did Mike show you the recurve he built?  Man that was a sweet one!  Don't remember what the woods were but it was a looker.  He said something about maybe just possible making a few to sell.  I might have to get my name on that list if he does!  I'm sure your Treadway will be worth the wait.  I just wish 2fletch hadn't already packed up for the evening after I bought it or it would have an Eagle's Flight Carp skin quiver on it.

Barry,
I say that recurve! However, that was not the first time that I had seen his recurve.  When I went up to his place, he had one in the shop that he was building for a guy in Florida.  Mike makes a great bow!  When I get mine, I'm going to
contact Bill Stroupe about wood arrows.  You should go to up to Mike's place and let him show his elk and tell you the story of how he killed it.  The bow he shot the elk with was a little less 45lbs. at 28 inches.

Thats a great looking bow.  Does Treadway have a web site where we can check out his wares?  I know I would like to see more pics of his bows.  If not a website, is there contact info you all can post for him?

Thanks for the pics and congrats on your new bow.
